Royal Blood
Description:
The lead single from the album, "Mountains at Midnight," is one of those rushing songs that sounds like a supercharged engine in a Royal Blood prototype. With an original heavy wall-of-sound created solely by Mike Kerr on bass, and a majestic groove driven by Ben Thatcher's ticking rhythms, this song is definitely the sound fans have come to expect from the band. But the new album is so much more than that - from "Shiner In The Dark," which fully embraces the tight, danceable rhythmic rock and roll sound they established on their last album, "Typhoons," to the 90s The Firing Line" incorporates elements of alternative rock and psychedelia amplified by the piano in the latter half of the song, and "Pull Me Through" is a live favorite, "All We Have Is Now" (from "Typhoons"), which ends completely with the melancholy piano that had fans going wild. The piano brings it to a perfect conclusion. The album is said to include a variety of other songs that broaden the excitement of the live show and amplify the sound pressure of Royal Blood's intense, bass-heavy rock. The one-of-a-kind rock duo was once advised by the great Rick Rubin that what defines Royal Blood is neither the genre nor the instruments they play, but simply the unique chemistry between two friends. Unknown musical territory, mastered over time like a vintage wine, is realized in "BACK TO THE WATER BELOW"! (2/2)
