Offenbach (1819-1880)
Description:
The year 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Offenbach, who, along with Clara Schumann and Suppé, is considered the god of operetta. Jody DeVos, who became a world-famous singer in just a few years after winning the Queen Elisabeth International Competition, has carefully selected arias from Offenbach's vast collection of works, both famous and obscure, and has created an album that captures the style of the composer who gained great popularity under the nickname "Mozart of the Champs-Elysées". With the exception of a few well-known works, Offenbach's art, which is surprisingly unknown to many people, can be fully appreciated under the baton of Camperone, a brilliant conductor from the south of France who has established a solid track record in reviving rare French 19th century works.
