A collection of folk tales that thrilled the European courtesans of days gone by, brought vividly back to life in the present day. Pentamerone" is a collection of folktales written in the Neapolitan dialect by Gianbattista Basile (1575?-1632), a soldier and poet of the Kingdom of Naples in the early 17th century, under the pen name Gian Alessio Appatutis. It is the first full-fledged collection of folk tales in Europe, and includes many stories that are considered to be the original form of those later taken up by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, such as "Snow White," "Cinderella," "Puss in Boots," and many others. This album contains folk songs quoted in "Pentameron" and works by composers who lived in the same period, vividly reviving the sad stories and dreams of the characters and their pursuit of magic and love that the courtiers of the time listened to with such enthusiasm.Formed in 1983, the "Ensemble Ogni Vitals" has a repertoire that includes music from the European Middle Ages, that is, songs from the "Trecento" period in Italy (1300s), pilgrim songs written in Catalan and Spanish in the 13th and 14th centuries, troubadours' and trouvere songs, and other Mediterranean music from the 13th to the 15th century. The repertoire of the orchestra includes songs from the Mediterranean countries from the 13th to the 15th century, as well as Renaissance and early Baroque music. The free and unrestrained improvisational art of Ohni Vitals' unique arrangements, unconventional vocal singing style, and the addition of string repellents, Oriental folk instruments, and percussion, transcends the courtly atmosphere of the time and expresses the emotions of humanity itself.
