The young violinist Shin Tomita's debut album, entitled "ORIDGINS," is a collection of pieces that have held a special place in her heart since she was a child playing the violin. Placed at the beginning is "Tsuji Musicians" from Enescu's "Impressions of Childhood," composed in 1940. The improvisational melody with elements of folk music style is impressive and a fitting opener to the album. Poulenc's sonata written in memory of the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca and Lily Boulanger's "Nocturne," which reflects the painful experiences of war, are followed by a work by Hubaye, who, like Tomita, was born into a musical family. The concert will then continue with a jazz-like sonata by Ravel and end with the young Debussy's masterpiece "Beautiful Dusk," a well-thought-out selection that speaks volumes about her current state of mind. Coco Tomita was born in Okayama, Japan in 2002 and moved to the U.K. at the age of 6. She started playing the violin at the age of 4, and at the age of 10, she entered Yehudi Menuhin School of Music as a British government student, studying with Pierre Amoyal and others. In 2020, she was the first Japanese to win the Young Musician of the Year award in the stringed instrument category. Currently based in the U.K. and active as a soloist and chamber musician mainly in Europe, he will give his debut concert in Japan in 2022. Naxos Japan
