Brasil em Concerto, a project led by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is an unprecedented large-scale project in which a Brazilian orchestra will perform and record approximately 100 works composed in the 19th and 20th centuries. The first selection is Alberto Nepomuceno, a composer who was instrumental in the development of Brazilian music in the late 19th century. 1888, Nepomuceno went to Europe to study, and during his seven years there he gained a great deal of knowledge, which he brought back home and reflected in his own works. As a result, he became one of the first composers to incorporate elements of his country's folklore into his own works, and he had a great influence on the composers who came after him, such as Villa-Lobos. The album contains three pieces, among which the prelude "The Mischievous Little Boy" is a bright and joyful piece that has an irresistible appeal and was a favorite of Richard Strauss.
