Established in 1975, Voyageurs National Park is full of exposed rock ridges, cliffs, wetlands, forests, streams and lakes. The park is a place of transition between land and aquatic ecosystems, between southern boreal and northern hardwood forests, and between wild and developed areas. The park's name commemorates the voyageurs—French-Canadian fur traders—who were the first European settlers to frequently travel through the area. Known for its outstanding water resources, the park is a popular place for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Voyageurs National Park is located in Minnesota.
