Faenza and Corelli were active in Rome in the first half of the 17th century, while Corelli and A. Scarlatti were active in the latter half of the century. Bernabéi, who was active in this art city during both periods, was one of the notable composers who still explored the madrigale, a type of music that dominated the late Renaissance, in the mid-17th century. After a long career with Flavio Orsini, an aristocrat who championed many important musicians such as Pasquini and Stradella, he published a collection of works in 1669, which, while using this type of music that was popular during the heyday of polyphonic music, fully utilizes the concerto style unique to the 17th century with its emphasis on solo voice art. The sound of the concerto style, which is unique to the 17th century and emphasizes the art of solo singing, is fully utilized in this collection of works. The beauty of the melody, with its sensual verses and graceful luster, is quite appealing.
